What You’ll Do:
The Safety Manager leads the corporate safety initiatives and drives a culture of safety at Company facilities. This role will also be responsible for managing tasks related to company-wide regulatory safety compliance and company growth and improvement in the ready-mix and placing operations in the metro and northern Minnesota.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Foster a culture that Demands Safety at all levels through relationship building, training of employees, and clear and consistent feedback to employees.
- Familiarization with basic OSHA regulations. Drafting interpretation, clarification, and informational documentation to employees.
- Evaluate safety programs and policies to continuously improve the Company Safety Program.
- Develop and implement a strategic safety plan for the region – including annual areas of focus.
- Lead safety meetings, trainings and employee orientations as needed.
- Update safety books for all locations. Compile training materials for monthly safety and driver’s meetings.
- Track safety performance on a regional basis and communicate to managers the percentage of monthly safety meetings and inspections conducted for use in the safety incentive program. Track injury and accident claims and communicate performance to managers monthly.
- Maintain frequent communication with the Human Resources department to keep them up to date with accident and injury claims.
- Conduct safety inspections to determine compliance with OSHA regulations at company facilities. Update the safety audit checklist as needed.
- Producing safety training material for the safety training library.
- Monitor regulatory changes to assist in maintaining corporate regulatory compliance.
- Conduct new employee safety orientations.
- Lead and conduct accident and injury investigations,
- Assist in planning and coordinating yearly driver rodeos.
- Assist managers and HR Dept. in implementing discipline in accordance with company policy
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- General understanding of industry regulations and ability to find and interpret written government regulations.
- Discuss technical logistical aspects of safety regulations with peers and upper management.
- Attend and participate in periodic evening meetings related to the safety program.
- Able to occasionally spend nights out-of-town and/or state.
- Able to conduct Industrial Hygiene assessments and implement fixes based on findings.
Education and/or Experience
Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; with a safety-related background and 3-5 years of relevant safety experience in a ready-mix or construction setting.
OR
- 5 years of relevant safety experience in a ready-mix or construction setting
Pay: $80,000-$90,000
